Mission Blue

Mission Blue is a global coalition of partners all aimed at increasing ocean protection and restoring the health of the ocean.
In 2009, Dr. Sylvia Earle's TED wish; to ignite public support for a global network of marine protected areas, hope spots, large enough to save and restore the ocean, catalyzed support around an initiative now called "Mission Blue". Launched with the TED/ Mission Blue Voyage in 2010, the goals of the initiative are to inspire awareness and action urgently needed to protect and restore the ocean. Since its inception, Mission Blue has been growing in scale, effectively building interest and momentum with partners around the world.
Mission Statement
Our mission is to protect and restore the ocean, Earth's blue heart.
Vision
Mission Blue partners will empower and mobilize an international community of stakeholders to take urgent action to reverse the ocean's current state of peril. The collective action of Mission Blue includes increasing marine protected areas, 20% by 2020; reforming fisheries and global policy; rallying support for submersibles and new technologies; reducing ocean pollution; igniting public support; educating, and building new paradigms around the value of sea life, and it's essential role as earth's life support system.
