New Ventures is the World Resources Institute’s center for environmental entrepreneurship – providing business development services to environmentally-focused small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in emerging markets. New Ventures addresses the key barriers to “green” entrepreneurial growth by building in-country support networks for environmental enterprises and increasing their access to finance.

The mission of New Ventures is to empower environmental entrepreneurs in emerging markets to develop market-based solutions that protect Earth’s environment and its capacity to provide for current and future generations.

Founded in 1999, we have worked with 346 innovative enterprises whose goods and services produce clear, measurable environmental benefits, such as clean energy, efficient water use and sustainable agriculture, and often address the challenges experienced by the world’s poor. We have Local Centers in six of the world’s most dynamic emerging economies: Brazil, China, Colombia, India, Indonesia, and Mexico. Through our approach to business development and our links to investors around the world, we have facilitated more than $233 million in investment.
